Performance, Don Giovanni, Chemnitz...
Hi there, friends! This week was an interesting one. On Tuesday we were supposed to have the introduction of our new production of Don Giovanni, but it was cancelled, the official reason was that our Leporello was not yet in Wuerzburg so it did not make sense to have the first meeting. The following day, that is Wednesday, we were going to have our second performance of Die Lustige Witwe but due to illness of the stage team, we had no people to move and change the stage so the whole performance was cancelled. Now our next performance is on the 21st December, so more than 20 days after our premiere, I am looking forward to it already. It will be like a second premiere and I am pretty sure a lot of small unexpected things will happen, which will make it fun. On Friday due to a strike on the DBahn which is the train company here in Germany, I could not make it to an audition as there were no trains going to the city I was supposed to go. Fortunately I contacted the theater and I was not the only one suffering from the strike so, they will schedule a future audition for those that did not make it. But having all these cancellations did not affected my spirit, I really enjoyed this week, as nothing was in my control, there was no point to worry about it.
We finally on Thursday had our first meeting for Don GIovanni and started reharsing. After my rehearsal on Saturday I took the train directly to Chemnitz as it was the show number 250 of Hansel and Gretel and over 30 years of this staging and production. It was a very special evening as Akiho made her debut as Gretel in Chemnitz. She already sang this role few years back here in Wuerzburg, however, the production in Chemnitz is so lovely and really the best I have seen so far. I am glad they gave Akiho the chance to sing this role there, and she did really well, and I am proud of her. The theater was full and some of the original cast member from 30 years ago were present in the audience, making it a really special evening.
I keep my routine of excersice 4 times a week, reading the "Daily Stoic" every day and also keep reading "The Laws of Human Nature" by Greene and Cues (Vannessa Van Edwards). I am really enjoying these books very much.
Take care and see you next week.
