Premiere, rehearsals, reading...
Hi there! Finally we had the last rehearsals on stage of our "Die Lustige Witwe". It was a tough but nice week, culminating with our wonderful premiere yesterday. It was a success and I am so proud of how all things came together to create a very competent interpretation of this Operetta. The stage direction from Tristan Braun was really nice and clear. He was very good at expressing his ideas. Also we had a very good musical team lead by Gábor Hontvári as conductor, which always search for the best quality.
This week, with a lot of rehearsals and taking care I arrive somewhat fresh to the premiere was the main challenge and I managed to pace myself. I must say Camille de Rosillon is a nice role, more than I thought, so actually I am having fun on stage and it has some very nice music in it. I also can do many things on stage and express a different part of myself in comparisson with roles like Edgardo or Tito or Lensky. I found that although the role is somehow a fun role, if I play it with honesty it is funny by itself without adding to much cream of top of the cake.
I continue to remember my teacher Ryland Davies who recently past away. During the rehearsals and specially during the premiere, I imagined that he was there in the audience and I was just singing to him and thinking of his advice on how I should sing this music. It was very special but specially cause it borught me calmness in the challenging moments of the evening. Rylandino I think of you!
I continue reading "The Laws of Human Nature" by Robert Greene and I find it so insightful, as well as "The daily Stoic" by Ryan Holiday. Also I have started to read the autobiography of B. Franklin, very interesting, though sometimes I have to read again the sentences because the english written is that of few centuries ago, so, sometimes a bit difficult and learning some words like "tallow" or "chandler" . I continue doing my exercise routine 4 times a week and not giving up anytime soon. I hope you are well and please, take care. See you next week.
