Rehearsals, Ryland, Kitzingen...
Hi there! This week we continued with the rehearsals on stage, and the first rehearsals with orchestra of our production of Die Lustige Witwe. All is going well but I must say I am a bit tired after a heavy week. During this week I had to learn also a Requiem by Bruckner for a concert in Kitzingen with Martin Blaufelder conducting this evening (Sunday 19th November). He has invited me since I came to Wuerzburg at least once a year to make concerts. Sometimes is Bach, Mozart and even Puccini so I am glad that al least once a year I can do some sacred music. I love singing in churches and it is a very nice change for the habitual opera stage.
I keep thinking this week on Rylandino. Few days ago when we had the first orchestra rehearsals, while singing my aria and duets, I was thinking "how would I sing if Ryland was there in the rehearsal room listening" so, I did exactly that, and I must say, a sudden warmth and calm bathed me complitely and I had the most peaceful sensation in a long time while singing. I hope Rylandino was there, so at least I felt he was. I will keep striving to get that feeling more often. The sense of calmness and warmth, I felt like a was complitely on the "flow". I just remember what Kobe Bryant said about being on the flow, "you just know it, but you cannot start thinking about it otherwise if you do so, you are already out of it". Exactly so!
I keep reading " Daily Stoic" (Ryan Holiday), "Think big" (Grace Lordan) and "48 Laws of Power" (Robert Greene). Also I keep doing rigorously my 4 day exercise routine per week and 15,000 steps daily. Discipline is definitely what brings order and clarity and peace of mind, but somehow many see it as a punishment, but it is exactly the opposite. The rewards of discipline are much powerful and freeing than living a life without order and structure, you may not believe it but, it is so.
I hope you are well and take care, see you next week here.
