Traviata in Berlin…

Traviata Berlin...

On Monday, after a very busy weekend, we decided to go to Berlin to watch Traviata at Deautsche Opera Berlin. We went to give some support to our friend Marie Jacquot who conducted this great work by Verdi. It was a very good eveining. The singers were very good and the staging was good although I must say a bit to static when soloists were there. The whole choir sections were very energetic, but somehow I am almost certain that because this is a production with more than twenty years going on, I think some interpretation in the characters is missing after many revivals and many, for sure, assistant directors who try to reproduce the original concept. In any case it was a very succesful night. Our friend did a very good job conducting this amazing orchestra, for the second time and without any rehearsals. One of the persons we met after the show is the baritone George Gagnidze, who sings all over the world, Met, Scala, Berlin, VIenna, you name it. He sang Germont really well. We met at a restaurant across the street from Deutsche Oper and we had like one hour chat. It was really nice to hear him speaking and telling us some anecdots at the Met and also we were talking about technique a bit, but he was the most enthusiastic when talking about the Gerogian traditional cuisine. He showed us in his mobile phone some photos of his favorite dishes from his native land.

On Tuesday, we came back to Wuerzburg to continue with rehearsals of Onegin. Also we had again a busy week with performances on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Two Magic flutes and one Schicchi. This is the third consecutive week with three performances each week, jumping between Tamino, Rinuccio and Tebaldo. Next week (fuck already tomorrow), I have four shows (Tuesday,Wednesdays, Friday and Saturday). On top of that rehearsals of Onegin. This is will be a pretty hard week and I must really be smart and take everyday with calmness and positiveness. I must above all take care of my voice (I am already a bit tired from the last 3 weeks non stop), and specially mentally to remain calm and clear.

This week I got my Kindle I ordered in Amazon. First book I bought is called "The Obstacle is the Way" by Ryan Holiday, it was really good and lots of information and stories about some of the greatest personalities in history. I follow him recently on Youtube, he has his own Youtube channel where he shares mostly about his books and Stoic philosophy. After finishing the book I bought as well "Meditations" from Marcus Aurelious. Already started and it is really, really insightful.

I hope you are all well and wish you a nice week ahead of you. Until next time.
