Christmas…

Hi there!

This week we had perfromance of The Magic Flute on 23th and 25 th December. They were both really nice. For me every show is different and the voice always feels slightly diferent every time so it is always challenging and very exciting to perform. Yesterday (25th December) my mother saw for the last time this opera, we will not play it until I believe beginning of February 2022. Yesterday in the morning before the show I had a very small gig in a church where I sang Spatzenmesse from Mozart at 10 am. It was a nice warm up leading to the perfromance hehe, but I must admit it was a bit too early and singing Tamino is not easy but I took care of passing myself. I really wanted to do this small church concert because my mother is here and I wanted her to see at least one church concert and something different besides me performing in an opera and in the theater. The church where I sang we called it here the Batman church cause its two very pointy towers that really resemble something out of Gotham City.

On 24th we had over our friends Emilie and Kosma and their little dog called Agi. We had a very traditional mexican dish called Pozole which my mother cooked and it tasted delicious, as well as molletes with papas con chorizo also very traditional and also a very nice desert that Aki and I cooked. When they left we had our small Christmas presents unwrapping and it was really fun. For the first time since I came to Europe (13 years) I spent Christmas with my mother.

Since I cam here I am always busy during this Christmas time performinng and I have not being able to go back to Mexico this time of the year. Almost every year on 25th and 31th I have performances and sometimes I had on 31st double performance. So the end of the year is normally very busy for theaters here in Germany, although Corona has altered a bit that schedule nevertheless this year we had on 25th performance and we will have 2 performances on 31st December as well.

Working in Germany can be really tough and being in an ensemble in a medium Opera House we perform a lot and different repertoire so I must be really disciplined with myself to stay healthy and always in a good shape to be able to perform at my top quality in order to stay as professional as possible and also to give my best every show.

I wish you all Merry Christmas and that you stay healthy and with your love ones.

Until next time.
