Father, Guanajuato, Queretaro...
This week was an intense one. Lots of travelling and we had the visit of my father who also travelled with us. We started our road trip in Mexico City, from there we went directly to Guanajuato on a rented car which was by the way of great help and we had no problems on the road during the trip. We stayed in Guanajuato 2 nights and then went to Queretaro for one night, and we came back to Mexico City on Thursday late afternoon. We had a great trip, saw a lot, walked a lot and ate a lot, we visited the most relevant sites in Guanajuato. On Wednesday we drove to Queretaro and stayed there, also visited the main sites at the Historic Center and ate delicious food. On Thursday morning I went for my first run of the trip to "Parque Alameda" and also used the excercise machines at the park. I went around 7 am for it and I loved to see all the people going to work, and people also jogging and excercising at the park, from young to old people. It was really nice. The only not so fortunate thing was that my father got a cold and he spent most of the trip in bed at the different places we stayed in, but we managed to have some meals with him. He is getting old and slower so we took our time to walk slowly with him and taking care he does not trip over, specially in Guanajuato which is all about going up and down hills, you should google it, it is a very beautiful and peculiar city.
Back in Mexico city, I went to different streets markets that here are called "Tianguis", these markets are mostly on the weekends. One thing I love about these markets is that you can find such a variaty of fruit and vegetables, many of them you do not find in Germany and if you do find, they are so expensive and not as good in terms of quality as here in Mexico. One of my favorite fruits are guayabas and mameys, and since I arrived to Mexico I already bought few at these markets, and how to forget avocados (also ate lots of them already), also "flor de calabaza" is so tasty in quesadillas. I also had some delicious "Barbacoa" with "Don Celso", he is the owner and the cook, and the one who prepares you the "tacos de barbacoa". I go on the weekends to him since I was a teenager, he is really friendly and his food is amazing, he is on the streets of Merida and Chihuahua in the "Colonia Roma", a very nice neighborhood where I grew up.
I keep studying in different coffee places, Japanese and readying the Stoics. While doing this I also tried different coffee shops to try the "cafe" and choose which one is my favorite. As you may know if you read some of my previews blogs, I do love dirnking coffee and I am so interested about its origin, way of preparation, roasting, kind of bean, etc...
Unfortunately Akiho is with a cold and we had to cancel several meetings with family and friends. Only Today evening we went for tacos at the "Orinoco" Taqueria, to meet a dear friend of us whom also lives in Germany called Alejandro. A very good baritone, and our friendship is over 10 years old and going on strong. We met few of his relatives and we had a great evening, mostly eating tacos and laughing. I must say because my intermittent fasting I did not eat hahah. But I really enjoyed the time with them and I was still really full from our late lunch.
I am sure I am missing out several events that happened this week, but if I do describe them it would take me a long time. I am having a great time in Mexico and enjoying so much the food, not only out but at home my mother is an great cook so really my belly is happy.
take care and see you here next week.
