Mexico, family, Lucha libre...

Hi there, this week started with a flight back to Mexico for summer holidays. We got here on Monday night. We met first my mother and my aunt at the airport and it was really nice. I always love seeing them after a long flight, on this side of the world. My cousin Andrea also came to visit us to Ciudad de Mexico, I thank you Andy for coming all the way from Mexicali to see us. This week, we visited the Historic Center of Mexico City, Coyoacan, the south of the city, Colonia Roma (Where I grew up), Condesa, and tomorrow we will go to Guanajuato with my father. We have eaten a lot of tacos and mexican food, and seen so many places and of course, we have been to my favorite coffee places. Because of the Jet lag, I have been waking up really early, so I do a very early morning routine, where I go for my coffee at around 7 am, I take my Japanese book and study for one hour or two. I am also reading Ryan Holiday everyday.

Being in Mexico is always an adventure, there are so many things to see and eat, every sense is overwhelmed with everything that is going on all the time in this massive city, with so many people in it. It always takes me some time to get use to it and I love it.

During the week we had lunch with the Ortiz family where I met for the first time some cousins and uncles and aunties. It was a really interesting situation because for the first time there was a meeting with so many members of the family at the same time. We were like 20 of us.

It is a nice thing to go back to where I come from, remember where I started and to see my family and friends. I am glad that although I have been gone from Mexico for around 15 years, whenever I come back I still find my favorite spots almost unchanged, that is so nice, in a way I feel like I never left. Having said that, it is a fact that the city is changing and many buildings ar being build and many streets changing and the population is growing fast.

Ah! I almost forgot to mention, one of the highlights this week was "la lucha libre" show. Here in Mexico lots of people like this type of show, wrestling matches. Akiho and I were really looking forward to attend to one of the shows. On Friday there was a performance and we went with my cousin Andrea. We really enjoyed, you can google " Lucha libre, Arena Mexico" and you will see the images and videos to get the idea of how it looks. On Friday, one of my favorite wrestlers was on, his name "El Mistico" although through the years he has changed few times the name due to rights. He is great, although not as flashy as when he was younger, but still his movements are so elegant. I was so glad to see a couple of wrestlers that I grew up with still on the "Arena" as it brings me so nice memories of my childhood. When I was a kid I saw "Lucha libre" on the tv with my father on the weekends, and, also boxing matches on Saturday night.

This week is the beginning of my holidays and I hope all goes well and I am sure I will enjoy my time in Mexico and I will make the most of it, after two years of not visiting.

I hope you are well and take, see you here next week.
