Happy New Year, Tito, photos…
To start, let me say, Happy New Year! I wish you all the best and may you be full of good health. Aki and I went to the river to see the fireworks at midnight on 31st December, it was very nice to see all the people celebrating on the streets. Some colleagues from the theater were there as well.
We continue rehearsals of Tito at the theater, we are going through the second act. It is really interesting and I am looking forward to perform this opera at the end of January. Our premiere will be on 28th.
This week was a very productive one although I was fighting a cold. In the last 2 days I have been editing and choosing some photos on Lightroom (an editing software). I was in Mexico the summer of 2021 and in Japan on the summer of 2022. From each trip I have 3 sd cards full of photos, and in the last months I have been selecting and editing some of the photos. These last 2 days I went through at least 2000 photos. I am also learning more about how to edit in black and white and also about color theory. I really enjoy editing photos but I also really like looking at them, specially after a while of not seing them. It brings me joy, I revive in my brain those moments when I took a certain photo. I have been taking photos since I was a kid and whenever I was on a trip with the children choir I was in, I took a film point and shoot camera. Around the year of 2011 I bought a Nikon entry DSLR, very cheap one as I could not afford anything more fancy. I really focused on learning the basics of the camera and the exposure triangle (aperture, ISO and shutter speed). Also learning to see the photos before taking them. One must also learn about light, shadows, color, composition, story telling, etc... Of course depending on which kind of photography you focus on more, you remark certain aspects, but for me learning from nothing, I try to learn about as much as I can, and enjoy the process of learning it as a hobby. Another important thing to learn is how to use the powerful editing programs in your computer. Right now I am using Lightroom from Adobe and I really enjoy learning and trying different editing tools. Photography is so much more than I originally thought, and lot of great photographers I keep discovering through the years. Learning about photographers and seeing their work is so interesting and see how they see the world through the lense is sometimes eye opening.
I started reading a book again, that I had in my bookshelf. "The art of war" is a book I really enjoyed reading it the first time and now, after many years is still very interesting, I have a spanish edition from editorial Porrua, which I bought in Mexico I think like 10 years ago. As I have shared in my previews blogs, I have been reading Seneca, Marcus Aurelius, Ryan Holiday, and mostly the stoic philosophy, and since I started over a year ago to seriously read about it, I wanted to read again "The art of war" so now I have started and I am really taking the time to read it and understand it.
I hope this 2023 will be a year full of contrasts and challenges and good health. I wish you all the best in this first week of this new year. Until next time.
