Birthday, Wien, Mozart Requiem...
This week, I went to Wien for 2 days to work with Alessandro Amoretti on my repertoire. Although he is a coach but not a singer, he has very a very good pair of ears and hears very small details on my voice when I am not singing complitely correct. He is also a very kind person and patient enough to deal with my overthinking nature. Working with Alessandro is really good for me. He has a lot of experience and although we are just starting to know each other, I have a good feeling that we will be able to continue working together for a long time.
I was staying with my friend Elisa and her family, also managed to meet briefly Carlos Osuna. Carlos is a very good tenor working at the theater there and also a good friend. I also went to few nice specialty coffees and walked a lot through the center of the city.Being in Wien is somewhat inspiring for me, knowing that great singers and artists of all kinds lived and are living there.
Yesterday (Saturday 12 November) I had my birthday. I celebrated it really relax, had a rehearsal for today's concert of Mozart's Requiem, and Akiho cooked a very special Mexican dish "Pozole" accompanied with some home made tostadas and all the different dressings for it. It was delicious, she also made "pastel de tres leches", again, she excelled at it. Now 37 years old, I feel strong and healthy, I hope I stay so for many years to come. I feel my family close although thousands of kilometers separates us and I have a very nice life companion by my side. I am grateful for the people that are in my life right now and for God for allowing me to be in this earth one day more. Everyday is a miracle and a chance to do and simply be better.
Singing Mozart's Requiem today under the baton of Christian Heidecker at St. Stephans church was really, really nice. I love singing in churches and church music. I have sung this requiem many times and it is always really special, it never gets boring. Such an amazing and moving music. I also really enjoy it vocally, I feel really good singing it and I can really enjoy making music.
Until next week, take care.
