Last Lucia, Falstaff, Japanese...

Hi there! this week was a bit more relaxed than the last one. I kept learning Fenton from the opera Falstaff. Back when I was at the Opernstudio in Zurich, I learnt the aria and some of the parts with Nannetta, which is my beloved on stage. Now, taking the music score again after so many years and learning the whole part is really nice. Fenton is a nice role, not so long and it has very nice melodies. During the week I was working a lot finally on Edgardo, trying to sort some passages better and getting some phrases more comfortable on my voice.

On Friday we had our last "Lucia di Lammermoor" and I really enjoyed. The work I put on during the week paid off at the performance. Edgardo is a role I really enjoying singing and specially the final scene I enjoy the most. It is the most complicated but Donizetti wrote it so beautifully and I am so thankful there is music like that in this world. I hope I can sing this role again. The whole performance was really well interpreted and the audience and colleagues were really happy with the end result. Akiho sang really nice and we both improve compared to the performances from last season. The roles are more in our bodies and voices. So well done Akiho, I am proud of you. This was also the last performance I sing with Akiho here in Wuerzburg so it made the this one extra special. After 7 years singing together on stage. I hope the time comes when we can share the stage again.

We had a couple of Japanese friends coming over to see the performance, I was really happy they came to see it. They stayed over and we had a fantastic brunch the next day at a Lebanese restaurant at the center of the city.

I have taken again the task of learning Japanese, I am studying everyday, learning at least one Kanji and some grammar, and if possible some words. It is a very difficult language but slowly I will get it. My aim is a couple of years to get the basics and being able to speak and write at least a bit. I keep my exercise routine ( 4 times per week) and reading "Daily Stoic" by R. Holiday.

Take care and see you here next week.
