Messa di Gloria (Puccini)
Hi there. This week I had one performance of Capuleti and Today I sang Messa di Gloria (Puccini) in Kitzingen.
Singing Tebaldo in Capuleti on Thursday was nice, but somehow I do not feel so comfortable singing this role now. I think it is because my attention is to Lensky and in the last few weeks Tamino. I have performed Tebaldo like 3 times in 3 months, so I do not feel the role is complitely in my voice anymore. Let us say that, for me it feels better when I have a run of several performances of the same opera in order to find the right balance. The balance on the interpretation of the role as well the musical direction of it. I have one performance left, so, for the next few days, I will work again in the passages where I do not feel complitely comfortable and next show, I hope I find the balance I am looking for.
Singing again Puccini (Messa di gloria) is really nice. This time I sang with my colleague from the theater Igor Tsarkov (our basso). The mass is beautiful and I love singing church concerts. I have been singing in this church (In Kizingen) in like 4 ocassions and it is always really nice to work with Martin Blaufelder (conductor). He is very kind and relax and he really enjoys making music, and so far, he has been really friendly to me in the last 4 or 5 years that we have known each other.
Changing topic, few years ago, I broke my meniscus and I thought I would never be able to jog again without pain. During the last 2 years I have started again slowly to return to do it now and then. This week I went twice for a jog and it was really nice. Once with Aki and once alone. It was Wednesday, that I took an early jog and went for around 7 kilometers. I grabbed my earpods and just listen to a spotify jogging playlist. I love listening to music while jogging, it makes it easier for me somehow. My breathing just gets relax and I do not think much on how I breath. I love jogging in the morning, there is something about the smell in the air and the quality of it. because I jog along the river, there are plenty of trees and grass and the smell of morning is just so special and fresh.
I had some time free in the mornings this week so I had time to continue reading Seneca and I find him so interesting. I normallly take my kindle, go to a coffee shop (seat outside under the shade), order a flat white (lately) and read, love doing that. Right now, I am reading his letters. It is very mind blowing to me to be able to read letters that were written almost two thousand years ago. If only the paper in which they were written could speak and tell me all what they have seen and heard in the last two millenia.
Until next time, take care.
