Osaka, Nagoya, Kyoto…
Hi there! Uff this week... I am still in Japan and it has been incredible, but as always, when you are having such fun time flies, and it literally does. This week I have been in Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya and back to Tokyo again.
Yesterday (Saturday) was the recital in memoriam of Kumiko Sensei, Akiho's teacher at the Nagakuta Cultural Center in Aichi Prefecture. Akiho came from Germany this week, she is already working in Chemnitz but they allowed her to come here to sing this very important concert, It was veyr nice and special. I must say Akiho was the best and her pianist Sakichan was also the best. Both are so musical and they are able to transmit emotions to the listeners, and that is always rare and not so often found, even among singers.
From all the places I have been this week I can only say, I had such a nice food and drunk coffee to my content. I have visited some for the second or third time and some other coffee places for the first time. My favorites so far this week are definitely Lilo coffee, Sanwa Coffee and definitely my favorite, Mel Coffee Roasters the three of them in Osaka, you should definitely google them and visit them if you are in Osaka in the future, of course if you really like coffee. As you may know from reading my blogs. I do love coffee and I take it very serious whenever I am travelling, I am on the hunt for nice one, specialty coffee mostly, but I do enjoy the amazing espressos from Cafe Mexico (cafe Passalacqua) in Napoli.
This week while in Osaka besides the places I already visited in previews visits (the touristic ones), I went one morning finally to Minoh Park which was amazing cause at the end of 2.5 Kilometers of a walk you arrive to the beautiful waterfalls. It is worth the walk, mind you walking with a lot of humidity and on a Japanese summer day which gets pretty hot.
I tried this week among the many dishes that I have tried here in Japan after the 4th time being here, for the first time, Kakigori and Giudon, really good. Also visited at Tenjimbashisuji my old friend Maedasan and his small Tofu Shop where I eat the best soy pudding I have ever eaten in my entire life. Everytime I am in Osaka I visit him and get in exchange some free milk drink or whatever he sells. This time I got an amazing glass of high quality soy milk, a cold on in the middle of a very hot day, it was delicious. In Kyoto this time I visited some coffee places (I am keeping this time on my notes the places and coffees. I do enjoy coffee hunting and tasting), but mostly we were there just to eat Dashimaki Tamago which was incredible. I am pretty sure I am making written mistakes with the names in Japanese, please If I do and you notice, write me, to let me know and I will correct it.
When Akiho arrived this week here, it really nice she found a Hario shop at the airport and among other products of Hario, she bought a little scale with a timer as well. We have at home already some products from Hario to brew coffee and this new adition will help me to finally have on one device the time and the weight of the coffee.
I am skipping many things but otherwise I do not know where to stop. Akiho Left tonight to Europe back to work. For her it was only like 7 days in Japan, literally to see family briefly and to sing the concert and that is it. It is a shame she could not spend more time here to enjoy time with her family hopefully next year we will have more time with them. They are really welcoming and whenever we stay in Osaka we are able to stay at her mama's house. She is great and very friendly to this Mexican.
Take care and see you next week.
