Regensburg, Zauberflote, teaching…
This week like the last one was very interesting and lots of singing. I am writing this blog now in my living room at home. We just came back from Regensburg where we sang 2 performances of Magic flute (Mozart), Akiho as Pamina and me as Tamino. It was Yesterday night our last performance together this season and the last performance at this theater as both ensemble members. Next season Akiho goes to Chemnitz so, it was a couple of special performances where we both are also a couple on stage. It was a great honor to share and make music with Akiho these last 6 years at this theater and singing in Rebensburg at the Scholossfestspiele Thurn und Taxis was the cherry on the cake, where we sang for more than 3000 people per performance in a beatufiful open air stage at the inner Hof of the Palace. Both evenings were special and greatly received by the audience.
We arrived since Wednesday to Regensburg and were there with everyday rehearsals and the two performances on Friday and Saturday. The performances were at 8:30 pm with a long pause of 40 minutes, so we were singing until middnight. It was challenging because that is really late to be singing and last week I had almost the same schedule with the Italian night at the Residenz here in Wuerzburg were I sang also a lot of solo arias a duets. So after 2 very intensive weeks I feel complitely exhausted. But I am really happy I accomplished to manage and make this 2 weeks work really well.
This week I was giving a singing lesson to a chinese tenor, we already had few sessions and I think I already mentioned him a couple of times. We worked this time on the role of Belmonte, specifically the first aria which is challenging cause it has a lot of sustained notes on an "e" vowel, so we were balancing which way for him is best to sing this vowel without getting tired on the passagio of the voice, so it was really interesting, and after sometime we managed to find a way for him that was comfortable. I was really happy for him. So to him I say well done, because is he who found the way, because he trusted a different way of thinking that resulted on him finding a new way for the sound and a new way of phonating that difficult part of the voice. Thank you for trusting me.
I tried this week to keep learning Japanse, although I was very busy I made sure that I got a least one hour per day to get to study and learn some Japanese. It is a very difficult language and I am aware it will take me a very long time to get to a descent level but I am not in a hurry and I will enjoy the process.
This week was really busy and I am as I mentioned really tired. I wish I had more energy to get into more detail about our trip to the beautiful city of Regensburg but I am just not able to put more words into this blog today. I hope you are well and that you keep healthy and fighting for what you want. Take care and until next week.
