Tito, Edgardo, Napoli...
Hi there! This week was a very good one. We had at the theater performances of Tito on Monday and Lucia on Wednesday. On Thursday I had a photoshooting for next season at the theater, and on Friday we took a flight to Naples, Italy. Naples is a city I have always wanted to go for its history, for the nearby Pompeii and Vesuvio. Naples is so chaotic but I just love it. We are having such a good time although the weather has been against us. The whole time raining, but we had luck that we could in the time is raining enjoy nice italian coffee in specially a place called Mexico at piazza Dante, it turns out that is a chain of Napolitan coffee and the taste is so good. Their coffee is Passalacqua and have several types. I am also amazed how much passion there is for calcio Napoli. We saw Maradona's mural and in all the Quartieri Spagnoli there are flags of the club and murals on the walls with the faces of the current players, including the face of a Mexican player called Hirving Lozano who plays for the team. It is such an special feeling, also we were lucky that Napoli is playing at their stadium while we are here. We saw already among many places Teatro San Carlo, Piazza del Plebiscito, Palazzo Reale, Via Toledo, The Pulcinella statue, Many churches, Museo Archeologico Nazionale, Galleria Umberto I, Castel Nuovo, just to name some.
We will be here until Wednesday, then we will go to Rome by train and then will head towards Milano before going home. We are really happy in Napoli, such an amazing city by the sea where we can see the mount (volcano) Vesuvio. People is so warm and so friendly. I really miss the latin warmth in Germany, it really warms my heart to be sorrounded of such vibrant people. The chaos of the city which by the way is a big one, reminds me a bit to that of Mexico City.
The food, where to start, just amazing. Eating at a local Trattoria, not so touristic is the best, like home made by the nonne. We of course tried already Pizza Margherita which is from Brandi Restaurant, which claims it prepared the first of its kind in the whole world, the birthplace of Pizza Margherita. We tried the sweet pastries, the mozarella di bufala, fried fish and calamari, special dishes, local bread, delicious coffee. All in all a very nice experience for all your senses.
Art, we already saw few castles and museums (Palazzo Reale, Caravaggio expo, Museo Archeologico, Castel Nuovo), painters like me favourite Caravaggio among others, so many sculptures, among which I saw for the first time those of Zeno, Seneca, Marcus Aurelius, Socrates (All the Stiocs which I admire and read in the last few years). It was so special to see the faces of those who I read their words and admire. It is incredible how much art and how many churches are. We visited so many, and we had the chance to see few services in which they were singing and praying in Italian and it was so nice and reminded me of Mexico so much. Napoli is really full of people and with its narrowed streets is such a task to stay focus on the path in front of you. Difficult to not notice all the blue flags from calcio napoli or the hanging clothes in almost every balcony you pass, such a unique city which I am loving every second I am here.
So much to describe that I do not possess the time or patience to describe better here on my blog, you must try to come to Napoli and see for yourself how unique and interesting is this city and meet its people and just start a chat, they will gladly engage in conversation.
Take care and until next week.
