Dichterliebe, Wuerzburg, Siebold…
Hi there! This week was a productive one and somewhat challenging. I just finished a concert of Dichterliebe and some Tosti songs at the Siebold Museum in Wuerzburg.
I was preparing the beautiful Schumann work over the last few days. I had a lot of fun doing it back in the Summer at the beautiful city of Puebla in Mexico. So it was quite fresh still in my head and I could enjoy doing it again.
This work by Schumann is really special to me and I always love discovering more and more possibilities as to how interpret it. In this instance I had the chance for the first time to put it together we my colleague and very good pianist Diego Mallen. A very young talented pianist who also lives and works here in Germany. I came to Würzburg on Friday and stayed over at Igor's house. He was our basso at the ensemble at Mainfranken Theater Würzburg. He left one season before I did. I was very happy to see him and having nice time with him and his lovely wife and daughter. Thank you Igor for your hospitality.
The concert was a the Siebold Museum, it has very nice Japanese collection of documents and items originally from Japan. After singing the Schuman, Diego played alone beautifully and then we finished with 5 Tosti songs, which is ony few of the many he wrote.
The audience was really responsive and I was happy to see some familiar faces in the concert. Thank you for coming. My Aki also came all the way from Chemnitz to support me, so, Arigatou!
I continue with my daily reading of Holiday and Tolstoi, plus my exercise routine. I hope you are well and until next week.
