Studying, Puebla, rehearsing...
Hi there! this week I have been working further on my interpretation of Dichterliebe and the op.34, in preparation for the concert next week in Puebla. I have seen some friends in Mexico and talking a lot with mum, and of course I visit everyday a coffee shop and try new ones too.
On Saturday I came to Puebla, to start rehearsing for the concert. Somehow over the years I have been connected to Puebla, I came here as a child, then I came here because I had a girlfriend when I was around 17 years old, then later on my parents lived here few months because of work, and finally my friend with whom I am singing the concert and her husband are also from Puebla. So I have been here to visit them over the years, and finally now we get the chance to make music together after so many years. The Soprano Elisa Avalos with whom I sing this concert, we studied at the same conservatoire in Mexico City around 20 years ago and also worked together in an ensemble. We both are very interested on how to make music, not only singing it. Now is our first time doing something after so many years and I hope in the future we can keep collaborating. Her husband Omar is also a very accomplished musician he plays many instruments and he is a conductor as well. I really like them, they are really sweet and friendly and both so devoted to the world of music.
We have now rehearsed twice and there is still much to work on this music, but we only have our last rehearsal tomorrow in the evening. The concert is this coming Wednesday. I am really looking forward to perform at the " Teatro de la Ciudad". It is located at the heart of the city. Puebla is a very nice colonial city with lots of Museums and History, as well a very nice architecture and good food. Life here in Puebla feels really calm and local. So far my experiences here have been always really nice. Here in Mexico, Puebla is a city but the feeling is more like a big town rather than a city, and I mean that in the most positive way. My parents will come to see the concert, my mum from Mexico City and my father from Veracruz. I have not seen my father since I arrived Mexico so, I am really looking forward to see him in few days.
I have descovered a new coffee shop, is called Clemente, here in Puebla and it is really good specially the hand brew coffee. They had a delicious coffee from Jalisco (Mexico), it had a beautiful body and it had fruit notes but specially a very nice pineapple like taste. It was one of the best coffees I have tried here in Mexico.
I keep my exercise routine and reading Holiday and Tolstoi every day.
I hope you are well and please take care. See you next week.
