Back to Europe, Falstaff, Derniere of Die lustige Witwe...
Hi there! I am back in Europe, more specifically, Germany. Back in Wuerzburg after a long flight arriving Monday evening. On Tuesday evening I had a performance of Falstaff singing Fenton. I was curious how my voice would be after long 2 flights the day before and plus jet lag, and, thankfully it was all fine, a bit more dry than usual but all went fine and I was glad I sang without any problem.
On Friday, we had our last performance of "Die lustige Witwe" and the farewell of Silke Evers as part of our ensemble. She was for over 20 years here, once she went away to freelance and then rejoined the theater again. Our first opera together was back in 2016 in "Entfuehrung aus dem Serail" by Mozart, she singing Konstanze and me Belmonte. After that we shared the stage many times, like Rodolfo and Mimi from Boheme, Fiordiligi and Ferrando in Cosi fan Tutte, Tamino und Pamina in Magic Flute, among many others. We sang Baroque, Classic, Romantic and modern repertoire together. Thank you Silke for your artistry and for your proffessionalism and dedication. Now she goes to Weimar to be a teacher at the Conservatory, I wish her nothing but the best.
This week I have been dealing with the Jetlag. I am pretty sure next week will get better. I am also starting with some new rep for auditions and preparing for moving to Chemnitz soon. Back from Japan, everyday is difficult to not remember that beautiful land. I have always great memories and my senses although being in Germany, remember how it smells and how things are and its people. I truly adore Japan and its food, traditions, people, architecture, order, respect, etc. Of course no land or man are perfect and there are some not so positive things about Japan but any nation has its plus and cons. To me it seems it passes really well with my character and way of living. I still believe I will live in Japan at some point in my life, we will see.
Aki is still in Japan and soon has a concert with pianist Sakichan, our dear friend. I hope to do soon a concert with her again. We want to play Dichterliebe by Schumann. I hope we manage to organize something not so far from now.
Japan you are in my heart, I hope to visit you soon again, sooner than planned.
Take care and see you next week.
