Kassel, Berlin, Greene…

Right now I am on a Train back to Wuerzburg. I came with Akiho to Berlin to escape and refresh a bit, plus we had hair dresser appointment. In Berlin there is a friend of Akiho who cuts her hair and she loves the way he works. We both really like being in Berlin and wanted to come since few months and finally this weekend we had a bit of time so, we visited it.

This blog is number 53, week number 53 and I am glad I made one year of writing every week. This week, I had a performance of Hoffmann and I was in Kassel for an audition, hopefully good news will come out of it, if not, I am glad the way I sang and it was an opportunity to gain experience. Auditioning is an art in it self. For me, it is much easier to sing a whole performance and less stressful that getting ready for an audition. Somehow they are so unnatural. I could write a lot about it but I will spare you the suffering. Anyways, at least for me I need a couple of auditions to get into the rythm. After few consecutive ones I feel like I get into it. But that happens rarely. Normally for me because I am fest in a theater, auditions do not come often. When I get concerts or sometimes jumping in, normally I dont have to auditon.

This week I started reading a book from Robert Greene called "The Laws of Human Nature",I search a bit of him on youtube and saw some interviews. I watched few of them and in one of the recent ones he is on it after having a stroke which caused, I believe, the left side of his body to be paralized and unable to move it, that is tough. I learnt about him because another author which I have been readying lately called Ryan Holiday learnt a lot from him, so I decided to make some research.

In Berlin, besides hair cuts, we had a very nice lunch in a Japanse restaurant, a very modest one and very home like cooking, we really like it. Also managed like it is our custom, to try few nice coffee places and revisited some that we love as well. Went for a very nice walk from Berlin Cathedral all the way on the Unter den Linden street until the Brandenburger Tor. On our way back and the sun coming down, we met on the middle of the street with two singer colleagues, which one of them is another mexican tenor called Rodrigo Porras Garulo, he is doing a very good career. It was really nice to see him and managed to chat a bit about singing and we shared some nice thoughts. Akiho and I want at some point to move to Berlin, cause we like the city, its streets, coffee shops, its parks, its bohemian air. Berlin is a city that feels very alive and many things are going on. I guess because we both come from big cities, we find Berlin very good for us. But we will see if the future give us the opportunity to live there.

Take care and until next week.
