Japanese, photography…
Rehearsals of Hoffmann continue and they are going ok, nothing special. This weekend I am glad I do not have any performance. It is really nice now and then have a weekend without performing. In this season by the end of it I think I will have done around 60 opera performances. I think this is the most performances I have ever had in one season (Tamino, Tebaldo, Rinuccio and Lensky), plus some concerts, so when I have a free weekend I really enjoy it.
I have been studying really hard on my Japanese. Trying to remember Katakana alphabet, in Hiragana I am doing really well. Kanji, well that is a whole world in itself. I am also learning some grammar and rules of the Japanese language. I am learning by myself (Youtube), and Akiho helps me to correct it and practice.
I have been watching again youtube videos about photography, many of them I am watching for the second time, in order to remember things that I have forgotten in terms of light, composition, colour, editing, etc. I have Lightroom in my computer, and recently I have been going through many of the photos I have edited. Although now I have a better camera, I am surprised that several of the photos I took with my previews camera are actually good and I don't see much quality difference. What I notice is how through the years my photography has evolved slowly, and the way I compose the shots is different to for example 6 years or 8 years ago. The way I see things through the lens have changed. I wish I had more time in the past to really use it only to go out and shoot but I am still glad of the slow progress I am making. I do really like photography and I enjoy taking the camera with me but I do not do it as often as I wish. What I have noticed is that when I am in big cities and everyone is so busy, they do not really notice much when you take a photo, but being in a small city like Wuerzburg, is quite obvious when you have a camera in your hand, which it makes it a bit more difficult to carry my camera often. Therefore, when we visit another city I take my camera and take more photos than usual. I must say, a big reason for it, is that I see things with a fresh eye. I do love for example taking photos in Berlin, so whenever we are there is like candyland for me, plus I really like the city.
Hope you are well, see you here next week.
