Hoffmann, Onegin, Murakami…
Hi there! I just came back from another performance of Onegin. I really enjoy singing Lensky. This week, we started with rehearsals of Hoffmann where I sing Nathanael and Spalanzani. I am glad after a heavy season with main roles, to have now only this 2 small parts. We are doing a shorter version of Hoffmann, so, my two roles are very short when compared to the original length of both of them. I find this really good for me, because I am preparing for an upcoming concert and new roles, so definitely I am glad I have a bit of time to start focusing also on the upcoming repertoire.
I started again to study Japanese. I know already how to read Hiragana and Katakana more or less, also some Kanji characters. This week I am focusing on learning some words and grammar. Japanese is really difficult and specially because I do not practise everyday it is very easy to forget. I find that many words are really similar and I get confused very often, but I try to stay positive and just keep making mistakes until I get them right. Hopefully one day I will be able to speak Japanese.
This week was really busy and I barely had time to read, but I managed to get two chapters of the Lifes of the Stoics from Ryan Holiday and I started finally the book from Murakami called What I talk about when I talk about running. It is really nice and it has many details about the private life of Murakami and I find it really interesting, so I cannot wait to get my hands on it tomorrow, with a nice cup of coffee, maybe a flat white instead.
I hope you are well and I wish you only the best for you and your loved ones. Until next week, take care.
