Mainz and Onegin…

This week, as every week since approx three years, I did 4 workout sessions and I managed to include again a jogging day, ran for the first time 8 km. It is really a challenge to keep this schedule but definitely worth it, not only because I see the results and I feel physically much better than I felt since many years, but, it teaches me discipline and get the work done although I do not always feel like working out, but I still do it. This is a commitment I did with myself, I do it because I want to. I decided to start this journey because I wanted to get healthier in general, and create a routine that I can follow hopefully my whole life. Only time will tell, if I was able to stick to it for many years. For now, more than two years into it and I am still doing it. I changed a lot my eating habits to much healthier ones and also put in it 10 000 steps per day and I am doing the intermittent fasting 16/8.

On monday, we had our last performance of Magic Flute and we had friends (Japanese family and Eriko) that came to see it. I am really happy that they were there. It was a really good night and I enjoyed singing Tamino and also Akiho had a very good night.

On Tuesday morning we went to Mainz to see Nabucco at the theater, where a friend of Akiho named Aya was singing Fenena. It was a nice production but the characters were a bit weird. The singers in general were good, Aya was really good singing Fenena. The city of Mainz is the first German city I sang in and also the first one I visited back in 2006, when I was memember of the Session 2006 of the World Youth Choir. We sang a concert at the Cathedral which is more than a 1000 years old as a part of the Europa Cantat Festival. As we do with every city we visit, we search for the best coffee. We found a delicious specialty coffee place named Kaffeekommune and it was defintely worth it. We also found a very good Japanese resturant and enjoyed a delicious lunch. When we met Aya we also met the lovely Yuuki, she also works at the theater in Mainz.

Back at our theater I had the second and third show of Onegin on Friday and Sunday (Today). Both performances went really well. Today Aki was there for the second time and she enjoyed this performance more as the premier. We talked about some vocal changes that I would try during the show and they worked and she noticed the difference. It is really important for me to have some pair of ears that I can trust in order to improve in some aspects, vocally speaking.

I kept readying the book called Lives of the Stoics by Ryan Holiday. It tells the lives of the first Stoics and the History of this Philosophy and how it made its way to the most powerful characters in Roman Hisotry. I highly recommend it.

Take care and until next time.
