On my third Tamino…
Hi there, this week was finally a bit more relaxed with only performances of Die Zauberflöte, since we started the season I did not have a pause from rehearsals until now.
Tonight we had our 3rd performance of The magic flute and it went really well. This performance in general felt slower than usual but the audience was really positive at the end of the performance. On Wednesday we had our second performance in which we had the second casts of Pamina, Papageno and Queen of the Night. It is always very different and interesting to work on the same opera with diferent colleagues as the whole dynamic changes.
My mum is still in town so I am showing her few corners of Würzburg and she really likes it, plus we are eating some of the traditional food of Franken. She is also enjoying some Japanese dishes that my dear Akiho is cooking for her and Aki is enjoying some Mexican dishes my mother is cooking for us, so these last few days I am enjoying more than usual the ritual of eating. We made the other day a day trip to beautiful Bamberg, had smoked beer, some sausages and Sauerkraut accompanied of a very traditional bread, it was a very nice day and mum loved it.
My next project here at the theater is the role of Lensky in Eugene Onegin an opera by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Few months ago I had coachings with a Russian coach on only the text of the role. Now I must hear the recordings I made of those sessions and learn now the role properly with music. I am really looking forward to sing my first proper role in a Russian opera and Lensky is a role I believe it will fit me really well and I will work really hard to make the best I can to deliver a good interpretation of it.
I wish you a nice week and until next time.
