Lucia, Magic flute, reading…

Hi there!

This week, I had two performances of Lucia, on Wednesday and on Saturday. Both performances went really well, although I must also say that every performance is different. Let me explain, everyday the voice and the body change and so the interaction on stage with the other artists, the mood of the orchestra, the conductor pulse, the way we each individual do a live performance is always different. It is something difficult to explain but it is like that, so, I try to stay really alert in everyway possible for any changes and any external situations but remain focus on delivering a good performance. Every performance I look for places or phrases I can do better. In between performances I go mentally through parts that I was not happy from the last performance and then I practice those places and try to apply the modifications the next one. It is always a search and I love to keep the curiosity about how to sing and make better music.

I think like in around two weeks we will start again performances of Magic flute, we will do the production we did last season. So, now I must focus on remembering Tamino and improving it, there is some changes on my technique that I am looking forward to put into Tamino.

I am reading this week still some Haiku and I started the second book I read from Tim Grover called "Relentless: From Good to Great to Unstoppable", the first book I read is called "Winning: The Unforgiving Race to Greatness". They are worth having a look at.

This week Aki and I spoke a lot about singing and I really enjoy exchanging ideas with her, specailly about Lucia and some parts, the very challenging ones for both of us. We do both read and experiment a lot with different approaches in order to arrive to the sound we aspire.

Take care and until next week.
